First of Summer: White Rock Beach Hotel + Waterpark Subic

First of Summer

As usual, my family decided to go on a short vacation at the last minute. Obviously, it was tremendously difficult to book a resort/hotel in Batangas or in nearby provinces given the fact that it is summer in this side of the world.

Five days before our scheduled trip, I remembered this beach resort where my boyfriend's family corporation had their annual summer outing a year ago. Thankfully, there were rooms available.

White Rock Beach Hotel + Waterpark Subic is four hours away from Metro Manila, thanks to SCTEX. It is approximately six kilometers from the Kalaklan Exit of SBMA. We stayed at one of the Seaside Deluxe suites which is located in the newer wing of the resort.

There were a lot of people when we arrived. As such, the service is terrible. Check-in was supposed to be at 2 PM but our room was not yet ready when we arrived. Hence, it was already 2:30 in the afternoon when we settled in. Food is also relatively bad. As my brothers are picky eaters and my mom and I are on a diet, we did not want the lunch or dinner buffet. We ate a la carte instead. As usual, the service is terrible. We waited an hour for our food to arrive!

We were not able to maximize our time in the resort. We spent two to three hours in the waterpark, with my brothers enjoying the gigantic slides. We watched the sunset as we dipped in the infinity pool. We did not get to enjoy the beach given the fact that there were team building activities therein. Still, we enjoyed our time together. This experience surely taught us a lesson: NEVER EVER DECIDE TO GO ON A VACATION AT THE LAST MINUTE, ESPECIALLY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE PEAK SEASON.

Here are a few tips for those who wish to try out White Rock Beach Hotel + Waterpark Subic:

1. Check-in early.

2. Avail the Beachside Suites, Seaside Suites, Beachside Deluxe or the Beach Villas. They are better compared to the rooms in the main hotel. These rooms also have their own whirlpool.

3. Do not expect good meals from the resort. Go to Subic instead. Note, however, that Subic is approximately 6 kilometers away from the resort.

4. Use the waterpark when it is about to close. There are a lot of people in the pools until 5pm. (The waterpark closes at 6pm).

In spite of the relatively bad experience, White Rock Beach Hotel + Waterpark Subic is still a good destination for those who want a short get-away this summer vacation. Do remember the tips I posted though.
