It was my first time to watch Miss Universe in five or six years. I prefer reading other people's tweets. But today, I made it a point to watch the pageant.

There was something about Pia's story. You see, Pia joined the Bb. Pilipinas for three consecutive years. It was only on her third try that she won the crown, making her the country's representative to Miss Universe. 

I admired her passion and her resilience in spite of the challenges that she encountered. I admire her for her determination to get that Bb. Pilipinas crown despite having lost twice. Now, she's not only Binibining Pilipinas, she is Miss Universe. 

I have a profound respect for people like Pia. Those who are not ashamed of their failures. Those who do not give up in spite of the adversities that they may encounter. I look up to people like Pia who showed resilience, grace under pressure in using defeat as her inspiration and strength to bounce back. 

Pia's victory is indeed our victory as a nation; an inspiration to those who like her have known defeat. For our time will come, we just have to keep fighting. :)
