Benefit Highlighters

11:53 PM

Benefit sells four highlighters that are perfect for strobing: Watt's Up, High Beam, Girl Meets Pearl and Sun Beam. I have the first three. The sales lady at the Benefit kiosk in Rustan's Makati said that Sun Beam may not look good on me as it would make my skin tone look darker.

What exactly are the similarities and differences between these three highlighters? And most importantly, which one is perfect for you?

Read to find out!

Watt's Up! (Php 1600) is the first Benefit Highlighter that I've tried. I've seen this highlighter in every "Best Highlighter List" on the internet. It has a cream to powder finish with a delicate champagne glow. Most importantly, it has an applicator which makes it easier for me. It is truly perfect when you are running late and you have no make up on yet.

I bought High Beam (Php 1400) next. The Benefit website describes it as the supermodel in a bottle. It is a satiny pink highlighter which makes you glow perfectly. I recommend this to those who wish to achieve that dewy goal. Like a supermodel indeed! Unfortunately, I find high beam very difficult to apply. It has no applicator like Watt's Up which makes it difficult to make sure that you have applied the product evenly on your skin.

Finally, I bought Girl Meets Pearl (Php 1600). It is a golden pink luminizer which you can wear over or under your make up (well, you can do this with any of the three). It is easier to use than High Beam but not as convenient as Watt's Up!

The Verdict?

All three Highlighters from Benefit are PERFECT!

However, of the three, I recommend Girl Meets Pearl to those who do not like highlighting so much. It is a very subtle luminizer which you barely notice at 3pm. I do not recommend this to do those who are very lazy to retouch. Its effects wear down especially if it's hot. For those who barely have time in the morning to highlight and for those who are after convenience but loves the perfect glow, Watt's Up! is for you guys. As I said, it is very easy to apply. Unlike Girl Meets Pearl, it does not easily wear out so there's not much need to constantly retouch during the day. Of course, for those who love taking selfies, High Beam is definitely for you. It helps you achieve that flawless dewy glow that is perfect for pictures.

There's truly a Benefit Highlighter for everyone. But, there's no harm in purchasing all of them right? Even Sun Beam!!

P.S. Shy Beam, another Benefit Highlighter, will be available in the market next year. However, it is currently a part of the Pore Proof Kit released a few months ago. Based on the reviews that I have seen online, Shy Beam is a matte highlighter that is perfect for those that do not want too much shimmer on their face. I'll probably try them out as soon as it comes out as a full sized product!
