Weight Loss Plateau has always been my Problem Photo taken last April 2015, Anvaya Cove |
It is painfully difficult to maintain an active and healthy lifestyle. Following a strict exercise regimen and diet plan may be frustrating at times most especially if your hunger pangs just don't seem to go away or if the weighing scale constantly tells you that what you are doing is not enough.
I have been exercising since I was seventeen. Unfortunately, losing weight now is not as easy as it was ten years ago. Now, it is no longer enough to maintain an active lifestyle. As I am in my late twenties, it is paramount that I watch what I eat. After all, abs are made in the kitchen, not at the gym.
I have gone through many frustrations. I have always wondered why it is easy for me to lose five pounds in a month but suffer from weight loss plateau.
I know for a fact that losing weight is at the top of our list of New Year's Resolutions. As the first month of the year has already ended, our motivation may have died down. That is why, starting this month, I promise to devote at least one blog post a month to share with you my fitness journey, in the hopes that you too would be inspired to go through yours in spite of all the challenges that you may be facing. For the record, I have lost 10 lbs in three weeks, thanks to healthy living!

I went back to the gym as soon as I started working. I did manage to lose ten pounds in three months, eating white rice for breakfast and living off on sandwiches, pastas, etc. for my other meals. Of course, I spent an hour in Fitness First to help me lose weight.

Alas, I had to stop working so that I could start my review again when I failed the Bar Exam. I had to stop going to the gym and worked out at home instead. This time, I promised myself that I would lead a healthier lifestyle. I did not give in to my weird cravings and managed to workout for an hour, 4x a week at home. My exercise would include jumping rope for 30 minutes and doing several exercises on Nike Training Club. As usual, I only ate rice in the morning. I stayed away from rice for the rest of the day. But aside from that and limiting my calorie intake, there were no other diet restrictions. Yes, you got that right, I did not lose weight. In fact, it seemed that I have gained everything back.

I tried to blame the stress that the Bar Exams brought for this weight gain. I continued exercising for an hour, at least four times a week, eating half a cup of rice only once a day. Yes, there was weight loss but only minimal. I did not want to acknowledge the fact that I could not lose weight without dieting. After all, I exercise so I could eat. When I had my wisdom teeth taken out, I immediately lost five pounds in a week just because I ate nothing but soup for seven days.
Naturally, I gained these pounds back over Christmas and after my Japan trip. When I returned I resolved that I would eat healthy whilst maintaining my exercise regimen, I would either run or jump rope plus do a few workouts from Fitness Blender.
I started eating healthy last January 11, 2016. I would still eat rice for breakfast. I eat whatever I want on Sundays but for Lunch and Dinner, from Monday to Saturday, I would only eat vegetables such as homemade salads, lumpiang hubad, grilled chicken, baked salmon, sweet potatoes, etc. I snack on fruits and other healthy items. Except for breakfast and cheat days, I avoid fried food, red meat and PROCESSED FOOD.

Last night, I weigh 130 lbs (I was 140 lbs when I first started). Thanks, to healthy eating and extensive exercise, I lost 10lbs in just three weeks!
My face is visibly slimmer now, so they say. Unfortunately, I do have a round face that's why my jaw line is not really defined. My clothes fit differently and I feel lighter whenever I exercise. Sure, I started this whole thing for aesthetic purposes. But somehow, I do feel so good to know that this healthy living would be beneficial when I get older.
