XO 46 Bistro Filipino, SM Aura |
I do enjoy Filipino food but I barely eat in restaurants serving the same whenever we eat out. It's probably because we get to eat Filipino food everyday at home. Still, once in a while, we get to enjoy Filipino cuisine especially at the request of my dad. I never enjoy them so much. I barely crave for Filipino food. But yesterday's experience at XO 46 Heritage Bistro is a different story.
They accept reservations! Bring your Balikbayan relatives/friends here. Oh and Foreigners who love Filipino food. They'll love it. |
My mom and I just finished an intense RPM class at Fitness First Platinum Aura when we met my grandmother, my aunt and her family for lunch. It was our first time to try XO 46 Heritage Bistro although I have already passed by their branches in Century City and Estancia countless of times. Like what I've said, I am not really fond of Filipino cuisine.
The set-up inside the restaurant is very classy. I love how the ambience inside the restaurant mimics ancestral houses. XO 46 Bistro Filipino truly gives a very distinct old Filipino vibe which foreigners and locals would enjoy.
The restaurant's interior. Hello Lola! |
Even the tables were nicely set-up.
Among my favorite Filipino dishes are Kare-Kare, Sinigang and Sisig. This time, I had my aunt decide what to order for lunch. We ordered Okoy, Nilasing na Hipon, Gambas, Inihaw na Pusit, their Holiday Special, Chicken Gallantina and of course, my favorite, Sago't Gulaman. Forgive me for my failure to take pictures of our food. Almost everyone in our table was starving. We were also very excited to try the dishes that we didn't get the chance to take pictures.
The food is definitely to die for! I know how difficult it is to go on a no rice diet when you are in a Filipino restaurant. It's harder here! As we say in Tagalog, sauce pa lang kasi, ulam na! My personal favorite is the Okoy. I think the Okoy is a staple in almost every Filipino household. But the one served by XO 46 Bistro Filipino is the best that I have ever tasted.
Aside from the food and the ambiance, XO 46 Bistro Filipino also gives its customers with an experience of the Filipino culture. The servers were speaking in straight Filipino. I was amazed when our server said that the drinks available are: Hinog na Manggang Kinalog (Ripe Mango Shake), Hilaw na Manggang Kinalog (Green Mango Shake), Coke Magaan (Coke Light) and Coke Bokya (Coke Zero).
Christmas season is upon us. Balikbayans are definitely coming over to celebrate Christmas here in our wonderful country. Why not bring them here? They'd surely love XO 46 Bistro Filipino.
I'm definitely going back to eat here. When I do, I'd definitely have Kare-Kare.
