Ms. Law

Of Beauty Queens and Pageants

Bb. Lex (Ms. Law) Pageant, 2009

My apologies, I am still afflicted by the Miss Universe hype. It's true what they say, Miss Universe is the equivalent of the NBA Finals for us girls. Hehe. Like any other girl, I too dreamt of becoming a beauty queen.

I've joined two pageants in the past; the first, in the Miss Asian Studies Pageant back when I was in UST (this was in 2006 if I am not mistaken) - I landed as the second runner up; and the second, in the Bb. Lex (Ms. Law) Pageant in my first year in Law School (this was in 2009)- I did not place.

There's no evidence of the Ms. Asian Pageant. I must have thrown all the pictures away. Haha. I promised myself I will not do that again. I do not know why I ended up joining the Ms. Law Pageant. Nevertheless, it's fun to look at these photos once in a while and remember the cringe worthy things that I have done. Maybe someday, I can show these photos to my future daughter. After all, I may force my future daughter to enter pageants and fulfill my dreams; after all, this is one of my frustrations. Hahaha!

So anyway, here's an early throwback to the time I joined a beauty pageant in school. The second one at that.

My boyfriend was my escort for that night.
It was a Filipiniana-themed Pageant
Casual wear.

Long Gown

We opted for an Egyptian-themed Evening Wear.

A Little Drama on stage

We have just started dating then. Three months into our relationship and he has shown me tremendous support going through all these with me. Haha.

It was a memorable experience. Although I do not think I'll ever do this again. Well, I am way past this stage anyway. I prefer being on the sidelines. On another note, I supported two friends back in 2012 and in 2013 as they compete in Ms. Law. I served as their manager. Both placed second. Yes, I am so, so proud. :)
