Dearest Santa,
If I could just ask this from you this Christmas, I would. I wish to finally get that something that I have been working for for the past five years: the period to my much coveted title.
But I know you couldn't. You wouldn't. For it is only through prayer and hard work that the greatest desires of my heart will be fulfilled.
Santa, I have been very good this year despite the challenges and adversities that I have experienced. I have worked hard and spent countless of hours reviewing for that major exam once again. I have kept the faith despite the absence of any assurance that I'll make it this time. Santa, for this Christmas, I will be the one to take care of my own wish list, as well as that of my loved ones. Instead of giving us the things that we wish for, like you always have, send something of the same value to the less fortunate.
I am including in my letter the gifts that I wish for myself, the people I love and how I plan to give back to the community.
For myself:
- A Red Woollen Cloth Coat from Stradivarious for my trip later this year
- The Naked Vault Volume II from Urban Decay
For those who have been with me through one of the most challenging years of my life, those who never left my side and continued to encourage me to be the best I can be:
First and foremost, for my Mom and Dad:
Nothing is more painful than disappointing your parents who have believed in you. Nothing is more heartbreaking than seeing your mom hurt because she knew that you have given all your best and somehow, it just did not work to my favor. And nothing, nothing is truly more heartwarming than hearing from them that I still have their full support despite the disappointment I may have caused. I want to give them a vacation get-away, either at the Bohol Beach Club or at the Mövenpick Hotel in Cebu.
For my Brothers, who did nothing but cheer me up in these challenging times, the Herschel Backpack they've been asking for.
For my Friends, who also never judged and who never left my side, Happy Skin's Read My Lips Collection.
Finally, for my Boyfriend who was with me through all these, the Brown Sling bag from Aldo.
Santa, I know that what I have been through is nothing compared to what others have. There are so many less lucky than I. I do hope that instead of bringing gifts to me and my family this year, you focus on the less fortunate, to the children who have been afflicted with poverty. To those who have lost their homes and loved ones to Typhoon Lando. To those who have nothing on the table for noche buena. To those children afflicted with grave diseases such as cancer.
I promise to do my part, to give back to the community, as a sign of my gratitude for all the blessings I have received. I will donate the clothes that I barely use (but are still in good condition) to the church to help them with whatever fund drive they are conducting this Christmas. I will give back to charitable organizations like Child Haus and Tahanang Walang Hagdan.
